How can I keep birds out of my dog's food and water outside?
I've tried placing a large plastic owl near the food and water dish, as well as a rubber snake. The birds still eat and scatter the food and drink and bathe in the water. Food and water dish are kept on a 4x4 stoop outside my back door and the birds area leaving quite a mess everywhere. Moving the dishes are not an option and I do not care to get a bird feeder or bird bath to accomodate these pests. I also tried tieing shiny strips of fabric to the posts around the dishes. That didn't work either
Try taping or gluing strips of aluminum foil around the edges of the dishes. Or hang up aluminum pie pans, in pairs, in the immediate area so that they bang together (as long as that doesn't scare your dog!).
